Alligator Farm

Took the day off to get out and take some photos, had to decide between going to Merritt Island and seeing the wild birds or going to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. I chose the Alligator Farm, which may have been the poorer choice of the day. The sky was totally overcast and blah in St. Augustine, while my understanding is that it was beautiful south of Palm Coast.

I still got to practice some photography... just not as much as I would have hoped. I have been working with a new 24-70 Zeiss lens for the A7r. It is a great walk around lens, but in some cases I still had to pull out the Canon 100-400 to get some of the bird shots.

The birds were nesting and looked like they were sitting on a lot of eggs, but nothing had hatched yet. I might go back in a couple of weeks to see how much progress has been made.

a photograph of a bird on the Alligator Farm sign.Alligator FarmI seem to be in a habit of taking photos of birds on signs. Its a Tri-color Heron. I think this is my favorite image of the day. There was not a lot of color in it due to the overcast sky so I converted it to Black and White.
